			<description>&lt;p&gt;For poets: Choose a favorite book of poems. Open to a random page and copy the first line of the poem you find there. (Alternately, if it has a first-line index, flip to the first-line index and choose a random one.) Write a new poem beginning with the line you copied, and title it &amp;#8220;Poem beginning with a line by&amp;#8230;&amp;#8221;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;For prose writers: Choose a favorite prose book. Open to a random page and copy the first full sentence you find there. Write for thirty minutes either in response to, or inspired by, that line. Title your exercise &amp;#8220;Ruminations on a line by&amp;#8230;&amp;#8221;&lt;/p&gt;
