Help pageWelcome to the new Inkberry help/FAQ page (that stands for “frequently asked questions,” by the by.) We hope this will answer your questions about how to use the Inkberry site! And if not, never fear; there’s an email address at the bottom of the page that you can use to contact us if you need further assistance. Thanks for being a part of Inkberry! Overview (a.k.a. “user accounts, memberships, & passphrases, oh my!”)Most of the Inkberry site is free and open to the public. Much of the site is interactive: at inkblog, you can leave comments on blog posts; in the Inkberry Forums, you can participate in conversations. To do those things, you need a free user account. There are two parts of the Inkberry site which are not free. One is our MFA review archive, which is for Inkberry members only; to access those, you need to be a paid member, and you can purchase a membership in our store. And the online classes are for paying students only, and are password-protected; only students who have registered and paid can access the classes. Each class has a special passphrase. To enter a class, you’ll need both a user account (which is free) and that special passphrase (which comes with tuition). How to create a user accountAt the top of every page, in the upper right-hand corner, are the words “sign in” and “join now.” Select “join now.” Choose a username and password which will be easy for you to remember. Enter that username and password, and your email address. (You can also enter your web address, if you want that to be attached to your posts.) Click “go.” That’s all it takes! Dive in, and enjoy! How to join an online classFirst, you need to register for the class. You can do that by purchasing tuition in the store; you can also register via e-mail, phone, or postal mail. When you register for an online workshop, we’ll give you the special class passphrase. Next, you’ll need a user account, so if you don’t already have one, create one (as described above.) If you have an account but can’t remember your username or password, mail us and we’ll remind you. At the top of every page, in the upper right-hand corner, are the words “sign in” and “join now.” Choose “sign in,” and log in with the username and password you picked for yourself. Then select “Online classes” from the left-hand sidebar. Click on the name of the class you’ve signed up for. The site will ask you for the special class passphrase. Enter that passphrase when prompted. That’s it; from there on out, you can go directly to the online classes page and sign in to your class, because once you’ve entered the secret class passphrase once, the magical door guards will recognize you and let you in. How to purchase a membershipGo to the store and select the level of membership you want to buy. Once you make the purchase, you’ll be given a five-word membership phrase. Copy that phrase, since you’ll need it in a moment. At the top of every page, in the upper right-hand corner, are the words “sign in” and “join now.” Select “join now.” Choose a username and password which will be easy for you to remember. Enter that username and password, and your email address. (You can also enter your web address, if you want that to be attached to your posts.) At the bottom of the screen, it will say “If you purchased an Inkberry membership, enter the five-word phrase you were given here.” Remember that five-word phrase you just copied down? Enter it in that box, and then hit “go.” That’s it; you have a membership, and now you’re signed in to the site! Enjoy! Trouble logging in?If you’ve created a user account and are having trouble logging in, the culprit might be your web browser. Check to see if you have cookies enabled in your browser; you’ll need to enable cookies in order for our site to recognize you from one visit to the next. Here’s the Wikipedia entry on cookies, which explains what they are and how they work, and which includes instructions on how to enable cookies in several different browsers. Still have questions?Do you have questions about using the Inkberry site which we haven’t yet answered? E-mail us and we’ll do our best to answer them for you! Thanks for your interest in Inkberry! |
